Congratulations to this week’s Showcase Cinemas High School Team of the Week: Narragansett High School Girls Volleyball Team

The Narragansett Girls Varsity Volleyball team has displayed great sportsmanship both on and off of the court throughout their season.  Early in the season, they started 9-1, finding great success and appearing to be an unstoppable team in the division.  However, a tough end of season schedule had the team ending their season on a 2-4 win/loss streak, finishing 5th in the power rankings for Division 3.  Despite the losses, this group of girls held their heads high and consistently displayed respect, kindness, and good sportsmanship towards their opponents and officials.  Finishing 5th in Division 3 had them facing #4 Central Falls away for the Quarter Finals, one of the teams they lost to earlier in the season.  After fighting hard, the girls ended up falling in four sets to Central Falls.  Despite their season ending, the Narragansett girls held their heads high and, with smiles, congratulated the girls
and coaches of Central Falls, wishing them good luck for the rest of their season.
Another notable moment for the Narragansett Girls Volleyball team was their “pink out” game on October 21st versus Scituate.  During their “pink out” game, the Narragansett girls raised over $500 for breast cancer research through donations collected at the door and at their bake sale.  The girls are extremely proud of this accomplishment and will be donating the money to the Gloria Gemma Foundation.
Although the season didn’t end how we’d hoped it would, the Narragansett Girls Varsity Volleyball team has so much to be proud of.  Their commitment to sportsmanship both on and off the court is admirable and has been recognized by parents, officials, coaches, and players around the state.  This commitment to sportsmanship is why, in my opinion, they should be recognized as Showcase Cinema Team of the Week.
