The goal is to connect YOU with animals that need loving homes!
Please help by contacting the RISPCA at www.rispca.com
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is KING! (10/28/24) The RISPCA says “Say hello to King (aka Chico!). He is a small but mighty Chihuahua. King can be a little weary of strangers, and men at first but when he warms up to you he is the most affectionate little cuddle bug with tons of personality! While he loves people he is not a big fan of other dogs (particularly large dogs), and would work best in a single pet home with children over the age of 10.”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is ARCHIE! (10/21/24) The RISPCA says “This is Archie, formally known as the artist Ahro! This boy is a ball of energy and needs to work! He loves his agility and knows quite a few tricks. It’s important that whoever adopts him can keep up with his energy. It’s best if he goes home with someone with a very active lifestyle. Archie-Ahro really enjoys playing, but also loves to cuddle up with you on the couch, he can’t wait to find a family who can give him all the love and attention he needs. He’s been awarded a Handsome Dan’s Take My Lead Grant which provides FREE private training up to $500, and supplies.” Please adopt/share!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is REX! (10/14/24) The RISPCA says “Rex has been at the shelter now for almost a year! When Rex came in he really needed to work on basic obedience skills, he has made so much progress over this past year and has become a kennel staff favorite. Rex has lots of love to give, and he can’t wait for someone to find him. Rex is a big, handsome, sweet, energetic, and athletic youngster who just loves life! This bouncy guy will flourish with an experienced owner/trainer who can give him structure. He’d love to continue working on his training with you. Rex is a smart boy who enjoys learning and loves to please, especially when treats are involved. Rex can join a family with children 16+ who have experience with big goofy dogs. He may also enjoy the company of a like-sized dog who can handle his active play style. He will be overwhelming for cats, so a cat-free home would be ideal. This puppy in a ‘Big Dog’s Body’ is going to make a wonderful addition to the right family. Rex is looking for a family to adopt! Could it be you?” Adopt or share today! *Rex has been awarded a Handsome Dan’s Take My Lead Grant which provides FREE private training up to $500, and supplies.
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is ALLISTER! (10/7/24) The RISPCA says “Have you ever seen a more handsome boy? Allister is around 4 years old and can’t wait to go home with you! He loves his playtime in the yard and loves a good hike! No other dogs or cats for Allister as he can be very reactive at times. It would be best if he was in a home with teens+ as he could use some work on his leash walking skills and can get jumpy at times.”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is SWAYZE, an 8-yo doggie! (9/30/24) The RISPCA says “Meet Swayze! A staff and volunteer favorite, this boy always puts a smile on your face. He is a sweet and social boy, who LOVES human affection. Swayze doesn’t do well with other dogs so it’s best if he goes home as the ONLY pet. Kids 5 and older would be fine for Swayze, as he is a very gentle boy. This handsome hippo does have some medical issues so it’s important that whoever adopts him keeps up with his care.” Please adopt him or share this post!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is a puppy named SPIRIT! (9/23/24) The RISPCA says “This lovely lad is Spirit! He is an 8-month-old Mix breed that we transferred from PACC. He is the cutest, wiggly pup, but does need some work on his basic obedience skills. Spirit is quite small right now, but we believe he is going to be around 50-70 lbs when fully grown. He has a lot of energy and is very intelligent and food-motivated! So far he has his auto-sit down but could use a forever family to give him a loving home and guide him along the way. Spirit can go home with kids and other dogs, but it is best if he doesn’t go home with any cats. If you are interested in adding him to your family, apply for him today!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is Burberry, a 7-month-old puppy! (9/16/24): The RISPCA says “Burberry is just a puppy so she is still learning how to be a dog! It’s best if Burberry goes to a home with no cats or small animals! She can go home with kids 10 and older. We think Burberry would love to have a dog friend in the home.“ Please adopt her and/or share this today!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is Sargento (9/9/24): The RISPCA says “Sargento is a 2yo dog who recently came to us from Texas. He is your typical cattle dog and can’t wait to find his new family! This sweet boy is definitely a bit of a herder and would love a job. We think he would be great at sniff work or agility! He isn’t too high energy and he is perfect on leash. Sargento can get a little mouthy during play & still has some puppy skills to learn. This boy loves other dogs and would love to go home with another dog friend! It’s best if he goes home with kids 10 and older! Please adopt him and/or share this today!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (9/3/24) is WALLY the dog, who just got returned to the RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (through no fault of his own). They say: “Fall in love with Wally!!! He’s goofy, sweet, intelligent, and friendly. Wally loves people and takes his treats very gently. His kind eyes always seem to be watching and waiting for his turn to go for a walk. When he sees that leash, his whole body wiggles, his face lights up, and he does a little happy dance with those long legs of his. This big boy is super smart and loves learning new things. Wally will be happiest as the only pet. Due to his size, we feel he can join a home with older children (older 10+). He may look serious in his photos, but he’s really a happy-go-lucky guy!“ Please share or adopt Wally today!

She is perfect and can go home with kids, cats, and other dogs! Peas needs an active family who is willing to give her the ability to get her energy out. Peas is excellent on leash and house trained. She would be a fantastic working dog and loves her agility time in the play yard. Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is 3yo Lucille! (7/29/24) The RISPCA says “She is a stunning, tan mix female with a heart of gold! Lucille is as versatile as she is beautiful and would thrive in both high-energy and low-energy homes. She’s a pro at walking on a leash and is known for her friendly and outgoing personality. Despite spending over 100 days in a shelter, Lucille’s spirit remains bright, and she’s ready to find her forever family. Lucille can go home with kids, cats, and dogs. If you’re looking for a loving companion who’s as adaptable as she is beautiful, look no further than Lucille.”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the Week is SPIRIT the puppy! (7/22/24) The RISPCA says “S-P-I-R-I-T! Spirit, let’s hear it! This lovely lad is Spirit! He is a 6-month-old mix breed that we transferred from PACC. He is the cutest, wiggly pup, but does need some work on his basic obedience skills. Spirit is quite small, but we believe he will be around 50-70 lbs when fully grown. He has a lot of energy and is very intelligent and food-motivated! So far he has his auto-sit down but could use a forever family to give him a loving home and guide him along the way. Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIENDS of the WEEK (07/15/24) are two bonded guinea pigs named Kermit & Fozzie! The RISPCA says “These two little muppets are always up to something! You’ll find them chatting away with each other often. They are a very smart bunch and would do really well in a home with lots of explore and lots of enrichment like tunnels and chew toys. With questions about Fozzie and Kermit, or any of our other adoptable small animals, please contact Olivia at [email protected]”

He’s highly food-motivated and would eat all day if he could. Atticus is FeLV+, and concerns can be discussed in detail with our cat team. He should be the only pet with kids aged 10+.”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is March! (5/6/24) The RISPCA says “March is a sweet, energetic boy who is ready to be your buddy. He has certainly made an impression on us and has been a pleasure to have around since he was transferred to us from an animal control shelter. March will flourish when he can be the only pet in the home. He could join a home with older, (8+), dog-experienced kids who will be comfortable with his exuberant and silly play style. Could this sweet girl be the best addition to your family!? Apply for her today!”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (4/22/24) is WALLY the dog, who has been at the RISPCA since December. They say: “Get ready to fall in love with Wally!!! He’s goofy, sweet, intelligent, and friendly. Wally loves people and takes his treats very gently. Watching him lope after balls with his long gangly legs will put a smile on your face! Wally’s kind eyes always seem to be watching and waiting for his turn to go for a walk. When he sees that leash, his whole body wiggles, his face lights up, and he does a little happy dance with those long legs of his. This big boy is super smart and loves learning new things. He’s been working hard on his loose leash walking skills, as well as some other basic obedience, and is making great progress! If treats are involved, Wally is ready to perform!! Wally will be happiest as the only pet. Due to his size, we feel he can join a home with older children (older 10+). He may look serious in his photos, but he’s really a happy-go-lucky guy!“ Please share or adopt Wally today!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is SPUD! (4/15/24) The RISPCA says “Spud is a young, handsome, potato mix breed! Our boy Spud is an absolute ball of energy. Spud’s favorite things to do are go for long walks and zoom around the play yard. He enjoys playing tug and fetch and would be a great addition to your family! Spud can get jumpy at times and could use some work on his basic commands. It is best he is the only pet in your adult-only home!” Please adopt SPUD or share this post!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is BUCKY! (4/8/24) The RISCPA says: “This derpy-faced boy can’t wait to meet you! Bucky is a sweet, lovable boy who wants what every dog wants: a safe and comfortable home where he can be loved. Bucky appreciates time to adapt to new places and would feel most comfortable in a quiet home. He may need some time to warm up to unfamiliar faces, but once he does, he is eager to call you a new friend. Bucky can join a home with kids 13 and up and he’s gotten along with dogs before, so please let us know if you have a dog at home. He’d prefer not to share his home with cats or other small animals at this time. This handsome man is fully housebroken and walks fabulously on his leash and can’t wait to stroll your neighborhood with you. He’s the perfect age of 3 and loves a good game of frisbee, so if you have the yard, he’s got the energy. He can’t wait to meet you, so why not fill out an application today.”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is Licorice the Bunny! (4/1/24) The RISPCA says “Our sweet Licorice needs a very special home. She had a rough start to life and when she arrived at the shelter, we noticed she had a broken leg that had never been addressed. Unfortunately, she had to get her left hind leg amputated, but that does not stop her from being the happy-go-lucky girl she is! She is incredibly social, friendly, and quite the cuddle bug. Licorice has excellent litter box habits and she loves to eat. Her ideal home would be one where she can spend lots of time with her human(s) so she isn’t alone very often. She needs to be on soft surfaces whether that be rugs, blankets or foam tiles. We require a medical consult with our vet prior to adoption, to go over everything the future holds for Licorice! With questions about Licorice, or any of our other adoptable small animals, please contact Olivia at [email protected]”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is PUMPKIN! (3/25/24) The RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says: “Pumpkin is a handsome, mature cat with a heart full of love waiting for the right family to give him the comfort and security he deserves. He found himself in need of a new home due to feeling overwhelmed by the presence of a child and a dog, which made him retreat and hide away. Despite his timid nature at first, Pumpkin has a gentle soul and craves affection, particularly in the form of chin scratches, which he adores. Pumpkin would do best in a quiet, calm environment where he can feel safe and relaxed. A home without young children or dogs would be ideal for him, as he prefers a tranquil atmosphere. It is possible he may be able to live with another mellow, cat-friendly cat, such as himself, after a slow and careful introduction. Pumpkin is a sweet, affectionate cat who enjoys quiet moments curled up in a cozy spot. Contact Olivia at [email protected] with any questions about Pumpkin.”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is KEN (3/18/24) and we think he’s KENOUGH! The RISPCA says “Meet Ken! This happy boy is looking for his Barbie! Ken is full of life and loves to do zoomies in our play yard. Watching him zoom around and wagging his little stub of a tail, will always make you laugh. After his silly time, he will be your cuddle buddy and will happily chill out with you. Ken is a sensitive boy who needs a moment to learn that you’re a friend. He is very affectionate and used to the comforts of home, and can’t wait until he can leave the shelter and go back to being loved and pampered. Ken can join a home with older teens (16+) but he would prefer not to share his home with cats. He would be happiest as the only dog in the home, but he is open to having doggie friends. He has won over the hearts of our staff AND volunteers and gets all wiggly when he sees the leash coming to his kennel. He is a very good leash walker and he can’t wait to walk with you in your neighborhood. If you think Ken is a good match, why not apply for this happy-go-lucky guy?” Adopt or SHARE Ken today!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (3/11/24) is WALLY the dog! The RISPCA says “Get ready to fall in love with Wally!!! He’s goofy, sweet, intelligent, and friendly. Wally loves people and takes his treats very gently. Watching him lope after balls with his long gangly legs will put a smile on your face! Wally’s kind eyes always seem to be watching and waiting for his turn to go for a walk. Wally will be happiest as the only pet. Due to his size, we feel he can join a home with older children (older 10+). He may look serious in his photos, but he’s really a happy-go-lucky guy!“
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (3/4/24) is MARCH the dog! From the RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals: “March is a sweet, energetic boy who is ready to be your buddy. He has certainly made an impression on us and has been a pleasure to have around since he was transferred to us from an animal control shelter. This bouncy, playful, and fun-loving guy does seem to like other dogs as he goes out of his way to introduce himself to other dogs in their kennel. He would most likely do well with another dog, similar in size, in the home after a meet and greet here at the shelter! He could join a home with older, dog-experienced kids who will be comfortable with his exuberant play style. He hopes that he will be able to MARCH right into someone’s home very soon! Apply for him today at https://shorturl.at/nHNT5“
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (2/26/24) is Rex the dog! The RISPCA says “Look who just turned 1! This spunky boy has lots of love to give, and he can’t wait for someone to find him. Rex can join a family with children 16+ with experience with big goofy dogs. Could it be you? *Rex has been awarded a Handsome Dan’s Take My Lead Grant which provides FREE private training up to $500, and supplies.”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (2/19/24) is JACK! The RISPCA says “This Texas boy is estimated to be at the perfect age of 3 years old. If you ask his foster mom, she would say he’s the very best boy… with one exception. Let’s start with his multitude of positive attributes. Jack is crate-trained, non-destructive, fully housebroken, and has lower energy. He loves car rides, can go home with a doggy friend, and is a dream on the leash. Jack is currently attending weekly training classes and comes with sponsored training support post-adoption for when he enters his new home. Jack has been at the shelter for over a year and a half and in foster care for 2 months. What has prevented him from getting adopted you ask? Well, he can be selective of his human friends. Jack’s ideal home would be one with very little foot traffic and with only one to two residents. He also needs a home that is on the quieter side as loud noises are frightening to him. Due to his need to decompress, Jack is only available for foster to adopt so that we can best support his transition. Note from his foster mom- Our goal is to get him into his new home on February 25th. Why this date specifically? It is his foster mom’s birthday and she states that there would be no better gift than this boy finding his happily ever after.” Please SHARE or FOSTER Jack today!
Meet Wally! He’s Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK! (2/12/24) The RISPCA says “This 2yo big & loveable goofball can’t wait to find himself a new home. His name is fitting as it matches his personality quite well. He is always watching you with his kind eyes hoping it’s his turn to go for a walk. He has a big cheesy smile that is quite endearing as well. Wally uses his size to his advantage and is a bit of an escape artist. He has figured out a variety of ways to let himself out of his kennel. He has figured out how to turn door knobs with his mouth, so clearly, he is a very smart boy! It’s best if Wally is the only dog in the home. Are you missing this big lug in your life? Take him home today!” See more pics here >> https://shorturl.at/cgsD9
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIENDS of the WEEK (2/5/24) are Lola and Nova! The RISPCA says “These two lovely ladies came in together and are bonded. Nova is a little more outgoing than her bestie Lola & they would probably do best in a quieter home. These two can’t wait to find their fur-ever home! With questions about Lola & Nova, or any of our other small animals for adoption, please contact Olivia at [email protected]”
Meet Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the Week: (1/29/24) The RISPCA says: “Meet Giorgio! This handsome man came to us with his sister, Safari. Their previous owner was unfortunately homeless and unable to care for them any longer. He does well with Safari and other dogs here at the shelter. Georgio would most likely be able to live with another dog after a meeting here at the shelter. If Georgio seems like the dog for you, come meet him today!”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (1/22/24) is KEN, a 1yo German Shepherd/Boxer Mix! The RISPCA says: “This happy boy is looking for his Barbie! He can be a little slow to warm up but once he trusts you, he will never leave your side! He loves to run and zoom around like a big goof. Once he has gotten his energy out though, he loves a nice cuddle session. He is very affectionate and has certainly won over the hearts of the staff!” Please adopt Ken today!
Our latest FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is JANE, a 9yo dog! (1/8/24) From the RISPCA: “Meet Jane! This sweet older lady is looking for a new home where she will be doted upon. She does have a lot of feelings and she likes to tell you all about them, so she would not be suited for apartment life. She does not act like an older lady at all. She still has a lot of energy despite her age. She loves to go for long walks and run around playing with her toys. Do you have room in your heart for sweet lady Jane?”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is BLUE the Dog! (1/4/24) From the RISPCA: “Blue is an 8-year-old Beagle mix looking for a chill home to relax in. Blue came to us with some medical issues. She has been treated for them, but she must go to a family willing to keep up with her health. She can get a little demanding at times so it’s best she goes home with someone willing to work on basic obedience training! Blue hasn’t met too many dogs but seems to like other small dogs. All kids are fine with Blue, but she should go home with no small animals. If you’re interested in adopting this pretty gal, apply for her on our website! rispca.org”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is a cat named MATEO! (12/18/23) From the RISPCA: “This little cutie is looking for a home in which to celebrate the holidays! Mateo is a special little guy because he has what’s called ‘eyelid agenesis,”meaning he was born with no upper eyelids so he will need a lubricant to be applied to both eyes twice daily for the rest of his life. This condition does not affect his overall health or cause him any pain as he is still a silly, playful kitten! If you think you’re up for the challenge of caring for this little man, please apply or meet him! Please note: Mateo will require a medical consult before adoption so our Vet can explain his condition and treatment further. If you have any other questions about Mateo or any of our other adoptable cats, please contact Olivia at [email protected]”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is MITTENS the CAT! (12/11/23) From the RISPCA: “Meet Mittens! This large and in-charge lady would love to be your main gal! She has lived with other cats in the past and could do so again, but she is an alpha female and would prefer to live with another cat who would understand that she is the boss. Mittens is talkative and playful, but her perfect night in would include lounging on a couch or bed snoozing with her favorite person. With questions about Mittens, or any other adoptable cats, please contact Olivia at [email protected]
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is Rex! (12/5/23) From the RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals: “Meet Rex! This big boy is 9 months old! Rex is a high-energy dog, who is looking for a home with someone who has big dog experience. Rex is jumpy/mouthy and will need post-adoption training and support! He will need an adopter willing to work with a trainer so that Rex can be set up for success out in the world! He is a very smart boy and is very food-motivated. If someone is invested in him, he will do quite well in the home. He shows interest in meeting other dogs, but any other dog in the home must match his energy level. He is a bit too rambunctious to live with cats or kids though. Can Rex be your new best friend? Apply for him today!”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (11/20/23) is LEO, a 6-year-old Lab Mix! From the RISPCA: “Leo is an absolute bundle of joy! This sweet, silly boy is looking for a family to give all his love to! Leo has a good history with dogs, so he can go home with another dog that matches his energy. Leo is playful and affectionate and would be the perfect family dog, as we think he could go to a home with kids of all ages.”
Maxine is today’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK! (11/13/23) From the RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals: “Maxine is a special lady and will require a patient adopter who will let her do things at her own pace; ideally someone with cat experience who knows their body language. It’s probable that Maxine will regress when she goes to a home, but hopefully, she has a better time adjusting in a less stressful environment (unlike a shelter). Post-adoption support will be provided to make this transition as easy as possible. Maxine would do best in an adult-only, quiet home with no other pets. We know there’s someone out there for her, she’s waiting patiently and hopes they’ll see her for who she truly is <3”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is 6yo LETTY! From the RISPCA: “Letty is the most perfect Pitbull princess we have ever met! Letty gets along with pretty much everyone, but she is a large lady and can get a little jumpy when excited, so we have her going home with children 8-10+! Letty LOVES her tennis balls and could play all day. She also enjoys walks and cuddles. Letty seems to like dogs and we would be open to sending her home with one. No cats for Letty as she has no history with small furry friends. Interested in this beautiful girl?
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIENDS of the WEEK (10/30/23) are Ruby Jane & Maggie Mae! From the RISCPA: “Ruby Jane came to us with Maggie Mae and they would love to find someone who could adopt them both! These girls are incredibly sweet and docile. They enjoy going for long walks where they can take in all the sights, smells, and sounds. These two have found such comfort in one another, but they would prefer to be the only animals in the house. They hope they can find a place they can both call home again real soon! Do you have room in your heart for these two lovely ladies? Submit an application for them today!”
The Heather & Matty FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is CLOVER! (10/23/23) From the RISPCA: “Meet Clover!! She is a 12-year-old Bulldog Mix looking for her forever family! She is an older girl but still has a lot of spunk to her! She is looking for a quieter home where she can nap peacefully and go for nice little walks! It’s best that she goes home as the only dog but she does have a history of living with cats. She is a soft and gentle girl so all kids are okay with this girl!”
Cloudy with a chance of… friendship! (10/16/23) Meet CLOUDY, a 10yo 16lb Cat, who is up for adoption right now! The RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says “Cloudy is a big, beautiful, fluffy lady just looking for somewhere to lay down and sleep all dayyy long! She has had a history of diabetic-related issues so it is highly recommended that she stay on a dry diabetic management diet! Cloudy would do best in a home with kids 8+ and no other animal friends.”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is CK! (10/9/23) From the RISPCA: “This sweet girl was unfortunately returned to us recently after her owner lost their house. She is an incredibly sweet girl who hopes her shelter stay is nice and short! She is a little overweight so more exercise and a strict diet are necessary for this lady. CK prefers human companionship so no other pets in the home would make her happiest. She greets you with the biggest smile and wants all the love she can get! Do you think CK could be your girl? Submit an application for her today!”
Meet Smokey, Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK! (10/2/23) From the RISPCA: “Smokey is a precious older gentleman and all he wants is to relax next to his human and be loved. He is blind, but that does not stop him from getting around and doing all the normal cat things! He is so friendly to everyone and truly just an amazing boy. Smokey would do best in a quiet home with no other animals. He’s great with kids but they might not be the best for him to live with full time. With questions about Smokey, or any of the other adoptable cats, please contact Olivia at [email protected].”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIENDS of the WEEK are Luna & Lily (9/25/23)! From the RISPCA “These bonded ladies couldn’t have more different personalities, but opposites attract! Lily is more reserved, not super lovey-dovey, and would ideally spend her days lounging on the couch. On the other hand, Luna is super talkative, loves getting attention, and has a little bit of a sassy side. The ideal home for them would have no other pets and teens +. With questions about Lily and Luna, or any of our other adoptable cats, please contact Olivia at [email protected]”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is TINY TIM the Bunny! (9/18/23) From the RISPCA: “This little miracle came in with a broken leg that healed incorrectly. Our vet staff made the decision that to best help him, they needed to amputate the broken leg. But that has not stopped him from doing anything he puts his mind to. He is very sweet and enjoys being pet on his head. Tiny Tim adapted to the tripod life quickly and moves around and explores just fine! Due to his special needs, we think a home with a little bit of bunny experience would be the best fit for him!”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is SABRINA the Cat! (9/11/23) The RISPCA says “Named after the Teenage Witch, Sabrina is still just a baby! She is very, very affectionate and talkative. She is insanely food-motivated and would probably eat all day long if she could! She would do best in a home with no other pets and teens+. With questions about Sabrina, or any of our other adoptable cats, please contact Olivia at [email protected]”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is Dolores, a 2yo 90lb PitMix! From the RISPCA: “This beautiful blue-eyed girl is sweet, social, and looking for her forever home! Dolores enjoys running around and getting her zooms out. She should go home with kids 10+ as she can get excited and jumpy during play! She is very dog tolerant and is able to go home with another dog friend, but not cats. Dolores could use a little bit of a workout plan so someone who is active and willing to help get her in shape would be ideal.”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK…is STELLIE the Cat! The RISPCA says “Stellie is an extra large, extra sweet boy who has TONS of love to give. He prefers to be the “king of the castle” in his furever home! Stellie has a heart murmur and will require a medical consult with our Vet prior to adoption to go over a future plan. Please give this loveable lug the life he so deserves!” Also, FYI: The RISPCA is currently closed to the public but they are still scheduling meet and greets with the animals. They do plan to open to the public on Tues., Sept. 5th in their new Warwick home.
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is HAZARD, a 4yo 108-pound Pit Mix! From the RISPCA: “He is your typical block-headed Pitty man! Hazard is a very sweet soul. He would prefer a home as the only dog at the moment. He would be able to have dog friends but would do best in the home as the only pet. Kids 8+ for Hazard as he doesn’t have a ton of experience and is quite large. He enjoys walks and swimming in the pool! Would you want to be this guy’s adventure buddy? Fill out an application to meet him today!” FYI: the RISPCA is closed for walk-ins but you could set up a meet & greet!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK! Meet Gamblin! (8/7/23) A 1yo 55-pound Bulldog! The RISPCA says “This friendly boy is a little bigger than a standard Olde English Bulldog but his looks and personality are dead on! He wants things how he wants them and he is not afraid to tell you about it! He is very confident and slightly stubborn at times. He has done well with every dog we have introduced him to so far. He may be able to live with another dog after a dog “meet” at the shelter! Gamblin is hoping that the odds are in his favor and that he hits the jackpot with a perfect home very soon!”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is Delilah, a Terrier/Pit Mix. (7/25/23) The RISPCA says “This sweet, sensitive girl is looking for her forever home! She can be a little nervous at first but has all the love to give once she is comfortable. Delilah gets a huge confidence boost around other dogs, so another dog in the home would be great for her! Kids 8 + as she is a small dog trapped in a big dog’s body. She will want to be in your lap cuddling all the time!” Adopt her today and learn more on our Facebook page and at lite105.com
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is SNUGGLES! (7/17/23) Adopt him today at the RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals! He enjoys exploring the world around him and would do well in a home with children 5+.” (They also have other Lion Head Bunnies up for adoption)
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is STELLIE the CAT! (7/10/23): From the RISPCA “Stellie is an extra-large, extra sweet boy who has TONS of love to give. He prefers to be the king of the castle in his fur-ever home and with a cat this big, who would need anything else?! Stellie has a heart murmur and will require a medical consult with our veterinarian prior to adoption to go over a future plan. Please give this loveable lug the life he so deserves!”
MEET FRICK & FRACK, Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIENDS of the WEEK! (7/5/23) From the RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals: “These tiny bonded sisters are ready to find their fur-ever home! Due to their very small size, we think that a home with older children would be good. These girls are fast! They love to run (and run and run and run) on their wheel and climb up and down their tunnels!” You can visit Frick & Frack at Rumford Pet in East Providence to learn how to adopt them today!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is a 1yo Pit Bull named RAVEN! (6/26/23) The RISPCA says “This high-energy love bug is looking for her forever home! Raven would be able to be friends with another playful and tolerant dog in the future, but she would do best as the only pet in the home. A home with kids 13+ would also be best for Raven, as she can be a little jumpy at times. No cats for Raven too as she will chase them.”
Also note: THE RISPCA is currently waiving adoption fees for their adult dogs until July 1st
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is NAVEEN! (6/19/23) This little guy is named after the prince from ‘The Princess and the Frog’ and he’s just as handsome as the character. He has beautiful markings on his face, he’s charming and would do great in a home with both kids and adults. With questions regarding Naveen or any of our other small animals for adoption, please contact Olivia at [email protected] The RISPCA has a full house of small animals! >> 14 guinea pigs, 4 bunnies, and 2 gerbils all available for adoption!
JACK is Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (6/12/23)! Adopt him today at the RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals! They say “Jack is a Cattle dog mix! He’s a silly, cuddly boy with lots of energy. Sometimes he gets nervous meeting new people, so someone willing to go slow and work on his “stranger-danger” is ideal! He loves to chase things like cars and cats so a fenced-in yard would be best for him. Jack also loves tennis balls and long walks!”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIENDS of the WEEK (6/5/23) are 2 bonded cats named Macy & Skittles! The RISPCA says “they are best friends and do everything together! They are super outgoing and friendly. They also could adjust to any home environment and are great with children.”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIENDS of the WEEK (5/29/23) are Cupcake and Thunderbolt, a couple of adorable Guinea Pigs! These bonded piggies are chill, laid back, and super friendly! They love just hanging out together and with their human friends. With questions about Cupcake and Thunderbolt, or any of the other small animals for adoption, please contact Olivia at [email protected]
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (5/22/23) is an Australian Cattle Dog named Marshall Maverick… From the RISPCA >> “Marshall Maverick has two first names because his big personality can’t be contained to just one! He is an active boy who is looking for someone who has lots of energy. He is basically just a big puppy who just wants to go, go, go! A home where he can be the only dog would be best, but he has lived with cats, horses, sheep, and rabbits! He is incredibly smart, so should take to training quite easily. He just needs someone to provide the necessary structure for him to succeed. He does want to please! Can you provide this handsome boy with the loving home he needs?”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (5/15/23) is Marilyn Monroe the dog! The RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says “She enjoys her walks and playtime but also doubles as an actress, model, and singer. She is famous for her beautiful big eyes that will melt just about anybody’s heart. Marilyn Monroe arrived with a broken leg, but is fully recovered and ready for her forever home! She would do best in a home as the only pet with children 8 and older! She can be fearful sometimes but will warm up and bond very quickly with her person.” ADOPT HER TODAY!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (5/8/23) is LUCY! From the RISPCA: “Lucy is the sweetest and smartest girl! She is looking for a specific home, with someone who will give her ample time to settle in. Lucy loves to go for long walks, play fetch and roll around in the grass. She could use some structure in her life and would be a fabulous workout buddy! Lucy is very anxious about unfamiliar situations and new people. She needs a family willing to work with a trainer to help her be her best self. Lucy would do best as the only pet in the home. Adults and teens 16 + for Lucy as she needs a very calm environment. It’s important we find a dedicated forever home for this special girl, so we are requiring her to have several meet and greets before moving forward with adoption! If you are willing to give her the time and attention she needs, she will be your best friend forever! Fill out an application to come and meet her today!”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (5/2/23) is ROCKY 3 the DOG!! From the RISPCA: “Rocky is a special boy who needs special attention. He would do best in a home as the only pet! He will require an adults-only home and an experienced handler, who can help him live up to his fullest potential. Rocky can get a little over-excited and jumpy at times so it’s important that he goes home with someone who understands Rottweiler behaviors and is confident in handling a big boy like him!“
Megan is Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK! (4/25/23) She came to the RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals from St. Thomas with her pups. The pups have all found homes – now we just need one for Mama! Adopt her today!
Meet DIPPY the Guinea Pig! She’s Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (4/17/23) and she’s up for adoption now at the RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals! She is quite timid but with some treats, head pets, and patience she will open up. She is best being the single pig in a home because her sisters used to pick on her a lot 🙁 With questions about Dippy, or any of the other small animals for adoption, please contact Olivia at [email protected]
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIENDS of the WEEK (4/10/23) are these Ninja-Turtle-named Pups! They are 4-month-old Boxer Mixes so they’ll likely be med-large dogs that need some confidence-building and socialization! Adopt them today at the RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is SEVEN, a 1yo PIT BULL! (3/28/23) From the RISPCA: “Meet Seven! This handsome guy is extremely friendly and eager to please. He loves treats, so we think he’d do great working on training and basic commands with his new family. Seven loves affection, and looks to his people for guidance. He just loves love and is hoping for his new people to come along soon! Could this fun pup be your lucky number?! Fill out an app or come see him today!“
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIENDS of the WEEK (3/20/23) are 3 male pet rats at the RISPCA! Adopt Marlon, Tito and more here >> https://www.rispca.com/adoptable-small-animals/#sl_embed&page=shelterluv_wrap_1646251604416%2Fembed%2Fanimal%2FRIS-A-6233
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is BROOKLYN the DOG! (3/13/23): From the RISPCA: “Meet Brooklyn! This oversized LAPDOG loves walks, hotdogs, cheese, car rides, and most of all, her people. She can take a minute or two to warm up but once she does, she’d rather be in your arms than anywhere else. If you’re a person or a family who enjoys being active like going for long walks or hikes and would like a dog who can keep up with you, Brooklyn is your girl. She also enjoys being outdoors soaking up the sun, playing in the yard, chasing balls, tearing up stuffed toys and just hanging with her humans on the couch. This gal is also a volunteer favorite and on any given day, she can be found in someone’s car or by their side on a super long walk. Your new best friend is waiting for you!”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is PETER RABBIT! (3/6/23) From the RISPCA: “Coming in at a whopping 13 pounds, Peter the French Lop is in need of a very special home! His new home should be one with rabbit experience and ideally, he would be able to free roam or have a very large space (he’s fully litter box trained). Peter does not have the best eyesight so he can get a little frustrated at times and might need some help learning where things are and who is around him. He takes a minute to warm up so expect some grunts but he is super friendly, docile and loves to just lie down and be pet on the head by people he trusts! His new family should respect his space when needed so preferably teens+, and he would be fine with a cat, calm dog or alone. With questions regarding Peter Rabbit or any of our smallies for adoption, please email Olivia, our Cat and Small Animal Manager, at [email protected]
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is SUGAR PLUM the CAT! (2/27/23) From the RISPCA: “Sugar Plum arrived in November of last year and like many cats that arrive in a shelter, she was terrified. Often cats will settle in after a few days, but Sugar Plum was taking longer than normal. It would be weeks before she began to trust us, and she is still weary of people. Shortly after her arrival at the shelter, we began a behavior modification program with Sugar Plum, which significantly helped her to build trust with staff. However, it was not until we started socializing her with a big, super-confident male cat that she made HUGE progress. Sugar Plum is what we like to call “a cat’s cat”, meaning she prefers the company of other cats over the company of people. By using other cats to help us socialize, we have been able to win this little lady over. She will most likely only show interest in people for food or toys. Sugar Plum needs a patient home, ideally with cat experience, with no dogs or young children, so she can flourish and live out her best, carefree life! With questions about Sugar Plum, or any of the other adoptable cats, please contact the RISPCA Cat and Small Animal Manager at [email protected]
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND(S) of the WEEK (2/21/23) are PEANUT & PEPPER, two bonded Guinea Pigs! (2/21/23) These lovely ladies are quite outgoing and seek out attention and love. They are always looking for treats and love their hay too! With questions about these 2 or any other “smallies” up for adoption, contact the RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is PACO THE DOG! (2/13/23)
The RISPCA says “Hi! My name is Paco and I am a silly, athletic guy! I absolutely love running and would love to have a big fenced-in backyard to run around in… or better yet, I could be your adventure buddy, running partner, or hiking companion… I just love being active. I’ve improved in so many areas since living here, like my leash walking. Now I enjoy all the sniffs and sights rather than pulling my human all over the place. I have a special friend here who takes me all the time and she really loves me. She says I’m a good boy and getting better every day. I am a big goofball who can sometimes forget how big I am and I would not want to mow down your little ones, so a home with adults might be best. I would also prefer to be your one and only fur child. I hope that’s not a deal breaker… I’m really lovable and eager to please! Come on down and meet me today!” Paco has been at the RISPCA for a long time so his adoption fee has been paid for by Anchor Subaru.
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is J Gatsby! (2/7/23) From the RISPCA: “This young guy is shy at first, but warms up quickly. He loves to play and chew on his toys and explore his surroundings. Now that Gatsby has been examined by our vet and been neutered he’s ready to find a new home to explore, hopefully with plenty of chew toys too! With questions regarding J Gatsby or any of our smallies for adoption, please email Olivia, the Cat and Small Animal Manager, at [email protected]
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is TOMMY! (1/30/23) From the RISPCA: “This handsome gentleman is about 14 years old and enjoys the simple things in life. All he wants is a soft place to lay and a little love and maybe a brushing from time to time. Tommy is a very gentle, sweet, and loving cat. He enjoys being petted by his favorite people and is a staff and volunteers favorite. This cutie will be a wonderful companion and super easy to care for! Tommy will be happiest in a calm, quiet adult-only home where he can be the only pet. Tommy was declawed earlier in life and due to some complications of this procedure, he has chronic pain in his toes. Tommy has been much more comfortable since starting a daily pain and anti-inflammatory medication. Our medical director will discuss his medication and ongoing care plan with any potential adopters. Please give him a chance to live the life that he so deserves! With questions about Tommy or any of our other adoptable cats, please contact our Cat and Small Animal Manager at [email protected]”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is SPARKY the dog! (1/23/23) From the RISPCA: “I’m Sparky and let me just say I know a few cool commands, and my favorite is “Wanna Eat? Yep, I’m a hound and I got that one down pat!! You would NEVER guess that I just turned 10, no way, now how!! I’ve got lots of spunk and LOVE playing tug, chasing balls, and of course, playing with stuffed toys. The nice people here say I’m a nice older gentleman who is very sweet. Not that I like being called an ‘Older Gentleman’ but it is what it is. I’m a Super Walker and I guarantee I’ll keep up with you if you enjoy walks and hikes. I would be thrilled to meet your dog if you have one but kids really get me nervous so my perfect home would probably be one with teens or adults. Also, with proper introductions, I may also be able to live with a kitty. So, in a nutshell, if you want a cool hound in your life, please consider me.”
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is SUNNY the CAT! (1/17/23) From the RISPCA: “Sunny may be a cat, but he has Golden Retriever energy. He is what we in the animal rescue cat call a “unicorn”, this means that Sunny can literally blend into any home! He is great with dogs, other cats, and kids of all ages! Not only is this fellow good-looking, and adaptable, but he is smart too! Sunny knows his name better than any other cat that his foster mom has ever met, and he is such an obedient baby by coming whenever his name is called. Also, Sunny has the world’s tiniest meow… except in the evenings when he goes on the hunt. He’s very proud to bring his humans each sock that he’s caught. Due to his previous life as a chubby fellow, Sunny did develop Diabetes. Sunny is currently well-regulated with insulin injections and will most likely need them for the rest of his life. Sunny is completely unfazed by his injections and takes them like a pro! Our Medical Director will consult with any potential adopters about Sunny’s medical needs and future care plan. Sunny would be the perfect addition to a quiet OR busy home. He’s just a wonderful boy!
**Please note that Sunny is currently in a foster home, and meetings with him will need to be scheduled in advance.** With questions about Sunny, or any of our other adoptable cats, please contact our Cat and Small Animal Manager at [email protected]
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIENDS of the WEEK are Hawks and Angel! (1/9/23) These two 2yo bonded Giant Chinchilla Rabbits are looking for a new home where they can stay together. They each weigh about ten pounds and will require ample living space in their new home. With questions about Hawks & Angel or any of our other small animals, please contact our Cat/Small Animal Manager at [email protected].
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is ZOEY! (1/3/23) From the RISPCA: ” This sweet lady is about 10 years old, and can easily mesh into most home settings! She is looking for a loving home where she can retire and live out her golden years. Zoey does take medicine for hyperthyroidism and is FIV+ so the Vet Team will go over this with any potential adopter. She previously lived with two other sweet cats, and everyone got along just fine (neither of these cats was FIV+). She would probably do fine with a slow introduction to a cat-savvy dog. As for kiddos, we think she should do just fine so long as they are calm, and respect her space. With questions about Zoey, or any of our other adoptable cats, please contact our Cat and Small Animal Manager at [email protected]“
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is PACO! (11/28/22) He’s a young pitbull mix who ended up here in RI after previously living in Hawaii. The people at his former shelter even made him this YouTube Adoption video. He’s athletic and funny and very sweet. Anchor Subaru has sponsored his adoption fee through the end of the year.
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is JENNY! (11/21/22) Her adoption fee (along with 8 other dogs who have been with the RISPCA the longest) is being covered by Anchor Subaru. Jenny is a cattle dog mix so she has lots of energy to burn, but also LOTS of love to give!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is SCOTT! (11/14/22) The RISPCA says “4-month-old Scott is the sweetest little man around! Sometimes he can start off a bit on the shy side, and may need some coaxing to come around to new people. The good news is that he is very food motivated, and is happy to exchange some love for a treat or two. With questions regarding Scott or any of our smallies for adoption, please email Olivia, our Cat and Small Animal Manager, at [email protected]“
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is Paco! (11/7/22) Paco is a silly, athletic guy! “I absolutely love running and would love to have a big fenced-in backyard to run around in… or better yet, I could be your adventure buddy, running partner, hiking companion… you name it… I just love being active. I’ve been working with the trainers during my time here who say I need to work on my impulse control… what can I say, I have a LOVE of life and it’s hard for me to hold my excitement sometimes!! My exuberance can be a bit much for other animals and kids, so they think I should go to an adults-only home and would probably prefer to also be the only pet. Don’t let that deter you… I’m really loveable and eager to please! Come on down and meet me today!” Adopt him today at the RISPCA!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIENDs of the WEEK (10/31/22): 2 guinea pigs, Luna & Bugsy! They are currently being housed at Rumford Pet Express in East Providence. These two bonded besties are 3-years old and hoping to find a nice home! These gals start off shy but give them a tasty treat and they’ll be your best friends!
Meet BLUEBERRY, Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK! (10/24/22) From the RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals>> “She’s Beauty, brains, & personality all wrapped in a tiny little fur package called Blueberry. This little nugget is an 8-month-old Mini Aussie who loves going for walks, playing in the yard, and entertaining her humans! She may be a youngster but she picks up new commands quickly and easily and just loves being challenged. She is always sporting her beautiful contagious smile and she is guaranteed to keep you in a good mood. Blueberry’s perfect home would be with a family with older children and as the only pet.” Adopt her today!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (10/17/22) is BINGO! This spunky pup wants all the love in the world he can get! He’d also be happy to do all the zoomies he can have until his heart’s content. If you have a “nose work” game he is all for it, or even going on a hike he will love it! Bingo is an active guy and just wants to GO!! GO!! GO!! Due to his energy level, we would say teens+. If you want to meet Bingo come in and take a look or fill out an application online.
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIENDS of the WEEK (10/10/22) is Puppies! Check out the Super 8 at rispca.com!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (10/3/22) is Snowball, the sweetest bunny ever! The RISPCA says he’s really well-behaved and loves being out of his cage. They say he was around kids and other animals before because he is so sweet to everyone (cats, kittens, dogs, kids)! Snowball likes most greens, but not basil, or strawberry leaves. His favorite snacks are cucumbers and tomatoes. He loves to be petted, and just sit with you, and while he doesn’t spook easily, he hates the vacuum. For more information on Snowball, please email our Cat and Small Animal Manager at [email protected]
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (9/26/22) is Tommy! He’s a very gentle, sweet, and loving 7-year-old male cat. He enjoys being petted by his favorite people and is one of the most chill cats in the RISPCA cat room. Tommy will be happiest in a calm, quiet home. Tommy has lived with cats in the past, and it has caused him great stress, so they will not be considering homes with other pets.
Meet DREAM, Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK! (9/19/22) She’s a 7-month-old Lab Mix puppy who is pretty shy at first. She’ll need a patient, quiet family who can work on building her confidence and giving her time to come out of her shell. Dream loves spending time outside so she’d really like a fenced-in yard or a porch to lounge on with her people.
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is Jack! (9/12/22) Jack is a silly 2-year-old Cattle Dog Mix with lots of energy. He loves to chase things like cars and cats so a fenced-in yard would be best for him. He also loves tennis balls!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is Tony! (9/6/22) Tony was found as a stray in Providence and we soon realized that he was showing signs of being pre-diabetic. Lucky for Tony the Rhode Island SPCA has an amazing vet team, and we quickly got his blood sugar under control, so he no longer requires insulin! He is an extremely loveable guy who would make a fantastic companion. Applicants may email the RISPCA cat staff at [email protected]
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is Brooklyn! (8/29/22) This oversized lap dog loves walks, hotdogs, and most of all, her people. She can take a minute or two to warm up but once she does, she’d rather be in your arms than anywhere else. Adopt her or share, please!

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (6/13/22) is ELLA the dog!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (6/6/22) is SMOKEY! Smokey is a quiet lady, whose owner passed away. She lived with another cat, but we have found out that she definitely prefers to be an only cat. She would do best in a quiet home as an only pet. She is pretty independent and really enjoys spending time watching the birds and sleeping in the sunny spots. It is suggested you go to the RISPCA to meet her and fill out an application rather than filling out an online application.
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (5/31/22) is PORCINI the Chihuahua! He is a shy little man that needs a family that can give him time and patience. When he first arrived at the RISPCA, he was barely socialized with people, but thanks to our foster care team, he has warmed up to home life. Porcini came from a home with many other dogs and lights up when he gets to socialize with other pups! Ideally, we’d like him to go to an adult-only home with a dog sibling who can help give Porcini confidence.
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (5/23/22) is Thunder, a baby Guinea pig who is currently being housed at the Rumford Pet Center in East Providence. Adopt Thunder today!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is Nitro (5/16/22)! Even though he’s still waiting, this little meatball with the giant blockhead still has a SMILE bigger than life!! He is a tiny low rider of a pit who just turned 2. Nitro is a happy-go-lucky, spunky, silly, full-of-life little fella who also loves riding in cars! He’s been patiently waiting for his people to find him. Your co-pilot is ready when you are!
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is Davey (5/9/22)! This handsome sweet boy is from a transport down south and was a stray! He sure does love people though and LOVES the outdoors as you can tell by his profile picture! He loves anything squeaky and he is very food motivated! Davey is an American Blue Heeler / Cattle Dog, Australian (Red Heeler)
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK is Stella (5/2/22)! Stella is a 6-month-old puppy with 3 legs! She had a permanent injury that was very painful, requiring amputation. She has adapted well and is ready to find her forever home! She’s happy and playful and has learned to get around just fine.
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIENDS of the WEEK (4/25/22) are Olive and Meedz! They are a bonded pair of sisters looking for a home together! You can find more info about them and other small animals available for adoption the RISPCA website. Adoptable Small Animals – RISPCA
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (4/18/22): Bailey, a 7-year-old female coonhound who is now with the RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for a second time. Bailey was adopted in the fall after a months-long stay at a wonderful home (where she even had her own Instagram), but unfortunately, her owner became unexpectedly ill and couldn’t care for her anymore. Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (4/5/22): Freddi is a 2 yr old, 59 lb., Male, Mixed Breed He’s a big boy who would love a yard to romp in, a human to walk with and a car to ride in. His distinctive look only adds to his charm. His foster mom adds that Freddi is a big cuddle bug who also loves to play. He may jump due to excitement, but he is very gentle and also plays well with his toys on his own. She also reports that he is a great listener and easy to walk. His endearing vocabulary of snorts and snores will keep you smiling. Freddi adores riding shotgun to any destination at any time. He would be most successful in an adult-only home with no other pets as he has some resource guarding. As with any large dog, some post-adoptive training would be ideal.
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (3/28/22): Meet Coach, a 7-year old, 83 lb., male, Pitbull mix! From the RISPCA: “Coach is a handsome mixed breed looking for his forever sunny spot! He loves spending time outdoors and would make the perfect adventure buddy…whether it’s headed to the beach for a romp on the sand or hiking through some wooded trails. He is quite shy at first but quickly warms up. He loves fetching tennis balls and would be happy as can be to do that for hours. In his previous home, Coach has shown that he would prefer to be the only animal.“
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (3/21/22): DIOR is a 7-month old, 55-pound Male Akita and he’s now up for adoption now at the RISPCA! Dior means “Golden” and he certainly lives up to his name of being highly fashionable and having impeccable taste! He enjoys car rides and has a true passion for squeaky toys but prefers to enjoy them on his own as he has displayed signs of resource guarding. Since he’s a pup, he is looking to fall into a routine within his new home. Dior has typical puppy energy…but we also feel someone with breed experience would be best. They say a tired dog is a happy dog and this definitely applies to this guy. With days filled with mental and physical stimulation, Dior will easily make himself at home with his new people. We do recommend that he be the only pet in the home but can get along with other dogs. Dior is nervous in new situations, so we also feel he would do best in a home without children.
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (3/15/22)! PRETTY GIRL is a 2 yr. old, 61 lb., female, American Pit Bull Terrier is up for adoption now at the RISPCA! From the RISPCA: “Pretty Girl is exactly what and who she is! Her personality is as stunning as her markings and she is ready to go to a home where she can run around then crash on your couch for hours on end. Pretty Girl has a lot of energy and is a lot of fun. Keep her entertained and she’ll be happy and ready to crash! She is super sweet and will kiss you all day if you let her; on the other hand, she will also steal your sandwich off the table if you let her. She would do best in a home with teens+ due to her unwillingness to recognize that she isn’t a 10lb lap dog. She would do best in a home as an only pet at this time, due to her over-exuberance. Pretty Girl does also have some separation anxiety, which is being managed with medication. She just truly wants to be by your side and makes an excellent shotgun companion in the car or snuggle buddy on the couch.
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (3/8/22)! Here’s Otis. He needs some help! He’s a 7-year-old, male, Mixed Breed who one of three dogs that came all the way from Oklahoma back in January when the RISPCA assisted with a large hoarding situation. The Humane Society of Tulsa reached out to several Rhode Island shelters for assistance and they just couldn’t say no! Otis has not been dealt the best hand in luck so far. He’s a shy, reserved guy who really just needs some confidence-boosting. Otis basically needs to be taught “how to dog.” A low-key, adults-only home would definitely be best for him, as loud noises and sudden movements startle him. We’re also recommending that he should be the only pet in the home. Otis really is ready to become somebody’s one and only! Interested in meeting Otis? Let us know! Otis is currently in foster care.
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (2/28/22): Meet Anteros! A 4yo Male Pitbull. With the face of a gargoyle and the name of a Greek god, Anteros has quickly become a staff favorite! Sometimes we call him Andy for short. The way he looks at you with his puppy eyes and his massive overbite you will never question how loved you are. This shy, reserved boy could thrive in almost any home however a home without young children would be best as he can be a bit of a scaredy-cat. Anteros enjoys going out on adventures but would also be happy to order in, snuggle and watch tv with you all day. Despite being about 40lbs, Anteros often fancies himself a lap dog eager for couch cuddles and butt scratches! This boy does have some skin and eye issues and will need to be on a limited ingredient diet as well as medication for allergies in his new home. If you’re interested in meeting Anteros or have any questions, our animal care staff would be happy to speak with you!
Meet Pixie! She’s Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (2/14/22)! She’s a 4yo American Staffordshire Terrier/Lab MixPixie is playful but a little shy at first. She loves going on outdoor adventures and is also happy to be at home lounging with her people. Pixie does need to be the only pet in the home and it is advised she also only live with adults, as she can be a resource guarder. Pixie also requires daily medication that will need to continue in her new home. Adopt her today at the RISPCA!

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK for 1/31/22: ***UPDATE: ADOPTED *** Barney is a 5-month-old wild man! At a mere 5 pounds, this neutered kitten enjoys parkour-ing off walls and chasing his favorite ball toys! He has a unique short tail and an overall sweet disposition. And he will cost you practically nothing in toys- his favorite game is running in and out of paper bags! He will do best in a home where he can get lots of playtime, probably with kids 10+ because he can sometimes get over-excited and become bitey. Barney may also be open to a home with a cat-savvy dog to help burn some energy.
Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK for 1/24/22 >> Freddi, a 60-pound, 2yo Pit/Rottweiler Mix, is up for adoption at the RISPCA! Please help find him a new family! Background info: Freddi ended up at the RISPCA when his owner was unable to care for him any longer. He went there with some pending medical- which involved them needing to remove his eye. Now that he is all healed up, he is ready for his new home!! Freddi is a big boy, with lots of energy! He needs an active home that will be able to keep up with him and his needs. He would be most successful in an adult-only home with no other pets as he has some resource guarding. He would flourish with post-adoption training to better shape his manners!
