Congratulations to this week’s Showcase Cinemas High School Team of the Week: Westerly Unified Volleyball Team!
This week’s spotlight was sent in by Jamey Vetelino:
It starts with the coaches, both Michaela and John have dedicated themselves to providing meaningful instruction to our athletes. They continually go over and above when they are on the job and when they are in their free time. Our athletes have learned so much and now spend time weekly helping others just as they have learned from their instructors. Places our athletes’ volunteer include:
- RICAN (Rhode Island Center Assisting Those in Need): separate and sort food, shelve and box groceries for those in need.
- SRIV (Southern Rhode Island Volunteers): delivers groceries to senior citizens that can’t get out to get their own groceries.
- Johnny Cake Center: help sort clothes that were donated, sort hangers.
- Westerly Housing Authority: cleans community room and landscapes at chestnut court and park view.
