Growing a mustache is one way to start the conversation about menโ€™s health.  (Movember.com)

This is the month of the stache. We are mid-way through Movember and if youโ€™re participating in the annual occasion, that means you might be mid-way to having a big, furry mustache. No-shave November, otherwise known as Movember, is the time to raise awareness for cancer, such as prostate and testicular cancer.

Obviously, not everybody can grow a mustache, but thatโ€™s not the point. The point of Movember, according to the Movember Foundation, is to โ€œchange the face of menโ€™s health.โ€ Movember charity refers to the men participating as โ€œMo Bros.โ€ The Mo Bros have two jobs: 1. To put down the razor and 2. to spread news about early detection and diagnosis and treatments. The stache is meant to start a conversation about the real issues at hand. If Mo Bros can do this, then theyโ€™ll be able to prevent the number of preventable deaths to cancer.

If youโ€™re struggling to grow a mustache, donโ€™t worry youโ€™re not alone.

Not everybody can be like Tom Selleck. And ladies, if you have a marker, you can be a โ€œMo Sistaโ€ in no time.

But if the hair is just not there, you can always get involved in other ways or donate. The Movember Foundation stresses checking in with your friends and family, monitoring your health and doing something about anything that doesnโ€™t seem right, staying active, and being knowledgable about your family history.

Where there is an issue in human health, there is a conversation to be started, and we all can start the conversation.
