The next installment of a popular horror and action series is slated to film in Rhode Island, according to the entertainment website Collider.

In an interview with the film’s star Frank Grillo, the website confirmed production of the newest film will be in town at the end of August for “six of seven” weeks.

‘The Purge 3’ is the latest Hollywood production to take interest in the Ocean State, more recently ‘Infinitely Polar Bear’ starring Marc Ruffalo and Woody Allen’s ‘Irrational Man’ were filmed in Little Rhody.

The premise of the Purge series is that in a future dystopian society criminals are allowed one day to run free without police interference.

The series has grossed nearly $200 million worldwide.
